LIMS for quality control labs

A LIMS sized for a small laboratory, from batch registration and testing against specifications to release and certificate of analysis.

Demonstration application. Functional and built with AppMaker, but not a finished, validated or production-ready laboratory system. It is a starting point that we adapt for each laboratory.

Chapters

The screencast follows the quality control laboratory of a fictional specialty chemicals manufacturer. Products, batches, people and results in the demonstration are invented sample data.

Adapting it to your laboratory

A starting point for smaller laboratories, or for labs that need a purpose-built LIMS for one well-defined area of work. Typical adaptations include:

  • Your own products, tests, methods and specification structure
  • Sample types and workflows beyond batch release, such as raw materials, stability or environmental monitoring
  • Your certificate and report layouts
  • Integration with instruments, ERP or an existing LIMS
  • Roles, approval rules and the review steps your quality system requires

Turning a demonstration into a system your laboratory relies on involves the same work as any laboratory software project: requirements, configuration around your data, integrations, testing, and validation where your quality system requires it. Starting from working software simply shortens the path.
